Founder & Creator of Red Thread Consulting - The 12x12 Journey™

For over two decades, I worked in the financial industry as a wholesaler—a licensed investment professional who served as a strategic bridge between portfolio managers, broker-dealers, and financial advisors. Over that time, I became known for my discernment, relational depth, and trusted guidance.

But it was the chapter that followed—marked by profound pause, reflection, and deep learning from four retired Thoroughbreds from the racing industry that revealed a life of deeper meaning and purpose. From that space emerged the The 12x12 Journey™, a framework guiding individuals, families, organizations and corporations through defining moments and meaningful change.

I am also the founder of The Red Thread Thoroughbred Project, a nonprofit supporting the welfare and aftercare of retired racehorses that also serves as a living expression of my values: presence, agency, dignity, and reinvention.

And at its heart lives The Red Thread Thoroughbred Project. Founded by Valerie Pickar, The Red Thread Thoroughbred Project is a registered charity that is dedicated to the welfare and aftercare of retired racehorses.

What began as a single act of rescue now serves as a deeply personal living expression of the truth that shaped her own transformation—both humans and horses deserve more than a life confined by expectation. Their stories are not an afterthought. They are part of the Red Thread Consulting origin story.
